Welcome To The Justin Morgan Celebration And Trotting Races.
On September 13th 2025 at 11am history will repeat itself since the famous Morgan Horse named Figure and later called Justin Morgan or The
Morgan Horse, raced down this old Vermont Road. That stretch of road to this day and is located where Justin Morgan lived on the Randolph-Brookfield town line.
Morgan horses will, again, race on the same road that Justin Morgan did over two hundred and thirty years ago.
Justin Morgan won races with regularity and was considered a "fleet runner at short distances." Running horses
down public roads for what was generally an agreed upon distance of eighty rods (quarter mile) was very common in the late
eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. Horses were started from "scratch."
Organizer Dennis Tatro and The Lippitt Club Inc. in cooperation with the town of Brookfield Vermont have put together a series of trotting races in
which Morgan Horses will again race down this historical road. Races will be at a trot, under saddle as well as
in harness. The event starting time is 11AM with trotting races commencing at Noon.
Come and have some fun, this event is FREE! We have a food venders available so you can get some food, park along side
of the road and watch the races. There is plenty of open fields for children to play and people come from all over the Country.
You can bring your registered Morgan and race as well, thats FREE too! Some people come and race to win and other people come and race just for the history.
